TWISTED X CASUAL SHOES COMFORTABLE AND GOOD FOR THE ENVIRONMENT
COMMITTED TO YOU & THE ENVIRONMENT
Twisted X is doing their part to save the planet by creating their products from recycled plastic, agricultural waste and natural resources while at the same time aiding in the reforestation of the troubled tree population in the United States. In fact, their goal is to be carbon neutral by the end of 2020 and here is how they are going to accomplish that goal.
Each pair of ecoTWX shoes are made from an average of 13 recycled plastic water bottles. To date they have recycled more than 2.5 million bottles from oceans and landfills.
They are migrating from using petrochemical nylon linings to using and eco friendly blend of 50/50 ecoTWX and bamboo charcoal. This blend is more breathable as well as moisture and odor absorbing.
They utilize the renewable and biodegradable natural fibers sheared from Merino sheep. This wool is seriously soft, odor resistant, naturally balances body temperature and wicks away sweat.
Vegatable Tanned Leathers
Using the oldest known methods of tanning techniques, they leverage materials that grown naturally, eliminating the need for harsh chemicals that often damage the environment. This vegetable matter helps save the environment as well as creates a supple richness in color in their leathers.
Their goal is to protect our waters and everything that lives in them. They now noninvasively harvest harmful wild algae to use in their midsoles. This helps balance the delicate ecosystem as well as contribute to the construction of comfortable midsoles.
They now take the agricultural by-product of corn husks to use in the making of their outsoles. Instead of husks being thrown away as they typically are, they are recycled and blended with rubber to create a more environmentally friendly outsole.
Twisted X has partnered with One Tree Planted in which they will plant one tree in the U.S. for every pair of shoes purchased from their ecoTWX collection. They have now planted more than 120,000 trees restoring over 2,400 acres of forest.
The Arctic Shipping Pledge
Twisted X has joined Nike and other like minded companies in the Arctic Shipping Pledge. They have vowed that they will not ship their products through arctic waters that are now accessible due to climate change.
The Twisted X office is single use plastic free. They also strategically cut their leathers to minimize leftover materials and even upcycle the leathers for their smaller youth and infant shoes. Their boxes are also now made from 85% recycled materials. And their catalogs now use recycled paper, soy based ink and small batch printing to prevent overproduction and waste.
All this has not only brought us comfortable eco-friendly shoes but also earned Twisted X the Global Green Award as well as the 2019 Plus Award for Sustainability.
