The History of Cowpokes

Over three decades ago, college students Jeff and Lynnette sat around the dinner table with friends. This circle of passionate people sparked a conversation about creative ways to build a store that feels like family and serves customers’ lifestyles holistically.

Determined, they transformed this impromptu conversation into action, working hard, trying new things, and remaining on the edge of creativity to build the store of their dreams. In 1993, the dream became a reality when Cowpokes opened its doors.

Today, as a family-owned and -operated, full-line work and western outfitters store, Cowpokes serves their customers and fans around the world with a variety of unique products and services. They continue to make it a store that has warmth in customer service and nurtures relationships with customers and team members.

With its complete line of men’s, women’s, and children’s boots/footwear, work and western wear, hats, jewelry, accessories, home décor, a tack department, and embroidery/screen printing department, Cowpokes is committed to providing top-quality merchandise and customer service.

Cowpokes has been recognized as Best of Madison County multiple times; largest retailer on site (outside of FFA store) annually at the National FFA Convention in Indianapolis; and top account/retailer for Hey Dude Shoes and Twisted X Shoes in Indiana in 2020 and 2021.
